We hit the road south on I-5 bound for Silver Falls State Park east of Salem.
It's named for the ten falls that are accessble via an 8 1/2 mile loop walking/hiking trail. We made it to South Falls.

We actually were able to walk on the backside of it which was really cool. The mist hit us in the face and cooled us off after the brief hike.
We loved our camping spot and would reccomend it to anyone visiting the park. It's B-8 and turned out to be the most private of all the spots we saw.. B-6 and B-10 were also good ones for future reference.

The weather was mostly good.. nice and sunny and warm, but thunderclouds moved in late in the day and it rained hard for about 90 minutes forcing our BBQ plans to be canceled. Instead we fried hot dogs inside the bus. After it stopped, the girls went to sleep and I went outside and built a fire and had a few glasses of wine under the stars. And I was treated to an incredible moon rising at a point right between two hillsides. It was spectacular and something I'll never forget.
The site has a long driveway which was nice for the girls to ride their tricyle and ol pink and blue.

The next morning I got up and made us coffee and fixed us assorted cereals. Remember those variety packs you got as a kid. Well one cool thing about being a parent is you can buy those things again. Noble Fir had Trix and I had Honey Nut Cheerios. The girls had Lucky Charms and Frosted Cheerios. Then we went and explored the whole campground and that's when we confimred we'd lucked into the best spots. For the tent camping the outer locations on the ring are definitely better than inner.. and the RV locations are best above where I wrote about.

All in all it was a great trip, though the dog and girls presented the usual challenges.
Trip Particulars
Destination: Silver Falls State Park (1) night
Mileage: 155 Roundtrip
Oil used: Needed a full quart at fill-up
Other issues: Heard a scraping sound from brakes when I first pulled out from campsite in the morning.. but quit after about a minute and couldn't reduplicate.
Ran fine on freeway at 60 MPH and probably could have pushed it to 70... but why rush.
Happy Fathers Day everyone and for more pictures of our trip... see the link "pickle adventures" on the right side of the screen.

Ben thought it may have been the emergency brake making that sound. Says, "don't use it in the rain." OK.. noted.
