Wow it's been a crazy summer!
Since we've last chatted, we've gone lots of places with the Pickle (the Green Camper) and with Charlie (the Brown Transporter).
Our first trip after Maupin was heading to the Oregon Coast and specifically Nehalem Bay State Park.

It was great getting away with the wife and kidneys, but to be honest, the weather was not what we expected. Even though it was in the 90s back home, it was much, much cooler at the beach.
The temperature wasn't bad, but the windchill made us bundle up as we headed off to the beach.

But you also have to realize, it's pretty hard to have a bad day at the beach.

And the girls had a great time playing in the sand.

And we also took in the sights of Cannon Beach.

When it got a little chilly outside, the girls headed inside and played some Old Maid and the always popular Uno.

All in all it was a great trip and good eating with steaks one night and cheeseburgers at Moe's the next.

After the big trip to the coast, we did some fun things around Portland, including a typical smoke filled Timbers game.

We went berry picking not far from house.

My favorite were the blackberries, but the kids loved the raspberries.

We also got to drive Charlie to a lot of fun places.

Such as the Rockcreek Tavern where I enjoyed a couple of brewskies.

In August, we traveled with our friend Mark from Maupin to a secret spot along a creek near Mt. Hood. Funny thing about trying to take a picture of Mt. Hood while driving... it's almost impossible. There it will appear, big as the outdoors, but by the time you get the camera out and ready to go, the mountain will disappear behind a bank of trees, or a hill or a cloud. However wifey did manage to capture this one while the Party Pickle was travelling near warp speed.

More on this trip in my next post!!!
Enjoy!

Always good to catch up with your travels. Hope all is well with you and the family. Maybe we'll make a trip up to the great northwest one of these days.
We recently adopted a 79 westy identical to yours. We have been working to restore parts of it but it has been a wonderful family experience.
Enjoy your adventures with your party pickle!
Thanks Steve.. and welcome Adam and Anya!!!!
It's a lot of fun and a lot of work. Probably 40/60. :) You'll be making great memories of your own real soon. Don't forget to check out the Itinerant Website Link on my blog. It's a great place to get help from nice folks.
