And as luck would have it, I found a guy who offered to the do the job for me for a great price. His name is Willy and he is the son in law of a guy who was my pseudo father when I lived in Los Angeles, back in my wild single days. He and his wife were my landlords and his daughter, Nicole is married to Willy and they just happen to live here in Oregon, not too far from me.
So in early February I made the drive and so began Charlie's transformation. And Willy started working his magic.

What was great about Willy and Nicole is that they really "got" the VW thing right away. They could see I really liked/loved my bus and even starting calling him Charlie too, not just "your bus."
They seemed to really care and treat the bus as part of their family. And they worked day and night to take off and label parts and sand and straighten and make everything just perfect.

Well, about a month later, I got word the job was finished. And I was blown away by how good it looked.

I was going for the purely stock look with stock colors. But it looks so good, I think it actually looks better now then when it came off the showroom floor. The brown on the bottom is the killer... So deep and rich and shiny. And it hasn't even been buffed out yet, which Willy will be doing for me in a couple of weeks.

Willy I can't thank you enough. And if you want Willy to do your bus, just let me know!!!!
Here are a few more pictures for you to enjoy if you love buses like I do.

No dings... (yet!)

Look at that shine on a cloudy day!

Thanks again Willy and Nicole!!!!!!!!!

Wayne, we're so happy that you're taking such good care of Charlie. He looks awesome! You've done what we had hoped to have done...give Charlie back the sparkle he deserves. He was, and is, an awesome vehicle. It warms our hearts to know you care as much about him as we did.
We wish you and your family many more years of fun and adventure.
Rock on!
