Escape to the Cape

IMG_0122.JPG

So we finally took our camping trip to Cape Disappointment with other extended family and friends we'd been planning (I'd been planning) since last December.

We pulled in on Sunday and it was cloudy and cool at the beach, but we liked our campsite and I saddled up to the fire and started to relax.

Lani and Kili had a great time though Lani was a little slow to wake up in the morning wearing her pajamas.

Because we were staying for 3 nights, I set up the Side tent and promptly took a chunk out of my index finger as the pole slammed together. I didn't bleed too much and now a week later, it looks much better.

We had some really good food.. I made Jambalaya in my Dutch Oven.. and Stephan made lots of potatoes for breakfast. They were really yummy.

On Day two, the Sun finally came out around noon and it warmed up the campsite and made it nice to go play on the beach. We flew kites and played in the sand and chased each other around a lot.

At night, we made smores, sung songs by the campfire and even made homemade ice cream in little plastic bags.

The pickle only had a few issues. Part of the Pop Top Seal started coming off, but I managed to fix it at home.. and once again the sink pump stopped working. When I got back home, I put new connectors on the connections and it shouldn't give us any more problems.

Lani and Cousin Emma got to ride their bikes in the circle by our campsites and had a great time with each other. We had a nice time.

The pickle ran beautifully, didn't use much oil and the engine was nice and cool on the journey.

Maybe we can sneak one last trip in before the end of the year, but it might be tough. Anyway, it was a great camping season and we had lots of fun!

About Me

My photo
We love living in the Northwest with our two VW buses. One is green and named the "Party Pickle." It's our camper. The other is brown and is named "Charlie Brown." It's a transporter. My wife is a great co-pilot and my two girls are seven and nine years old. Our dog, Chippy, loves chasing raquet balls. Hope to see you out there in the slow lane.
