As you can see, Scenic Beach State Park is wonderful. It's my favorite of all the ones I've been to so far this year. Our campsite (#22) was very private and the beach was beautiful and not too far away.
We found tons of oysters in the bay there and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. The beach was very rocky though and a bit hard to walk on for this tenderfoot.

At night, I got to sit by the fire and have a glass of wine. And I snapped this picture of the Pickle all ready for us to sleep in.

The next day we went on up the road to Fort Flagler State Park. It was about an hour drive from Scenic Beach. We had a quick stop in Poulsbo and got drafted to enter our dog in a Pet Parade.
Then we had to drive across the Hood Canal bridge and I let my wife Noble Fir take the wheel.

Fort Flagler was also very nice. It had a sandy beach, but the weather turned cold and rainy by the afternoon and so we huddled up inside our bus for a while until the storm clouds passed.

Right across the little road from our camping spot, we got a gorgeous view of Puget Sound and the sunset.

The only hitch in the whole trip was when we stopped for gas in Olympia on the way up. The bus wouldn't start. I determined it to be a hot start issue and I pushed the bus while Noble popped the clutch and from there on out there were no problems.
I'm going to install a hot start relay to hopefully stop that from happening again.
A week from today, I'm hosting bus mechanic extrordinaire Colin and we're going to get the bus up to speed, so to speak.
We had a great time and can't wait for the next one.

Nice sunset, doggie parade, clutch popping - sounds like the makings of a fun family time!
