So the flasher switch on the bus still refuses to work. When the ignition is on, and you pull the switch, the turn signal INDICATORS just show a steady green. And the outside lights do nothing. Also the flasher itself remains dark, instead of flashing red on the pull switch. However, the turn signals work as normal. I now know it's not the flasher relay which would have been a cheap fix. That's because at the campout last weekend, Jasan plugged his good relay into my socket and they still didn't work. So I think that leaves the Flasher switch, or wiring behind the dash as the culprit. That switch is more expensive... 40 bucks compared to 2 bucks... so I'll probably get some professional advice before I order that.
Tires. there's a whole lot of discussion about which tires are right for VW Vans. Experts (at least most agree) that you should use class C tires which are reenforced on the sidewalls for extra stability. But it turns out, mine are kind of premium passenger car tires without the extra sidewall protection. Meaning the bus may not handle as well and may or may not be more susceptible to a blow out. The tires are pretty new and in good condition, and the weight rating they carry is more than enough, so for now I'm going to keep them on there. At least some who own these buses say they've been running these types of tires for years with no problems at all.. plus some say tires made now are much better than ones made 30 years ago. If I come into a lot of money, I'll consider upgrading but for now I'm OK.. I think.
It's always something.

About Me
- Red Fir
- We love living in the Northwest with our two VW buses. One is green and named the "Party Pickle." It's our camper. The other is brown and is named "Charlie Brown." It's a transporter. My wife is a great co-pilot and my two girls are seven and nine years old. Our dog, Chippy, loves chasing raquet balls. Hope to see you out there in the slow lane.

When you do upgrade those tires and if you stay with a 14inch tire I'd recomend the Michelin Agiles 185 14 Sidewall Reinforced Tire. Load cap 1,875. Nice family and good TR
