It's always a little scary camping with people you don't know.. and even those you do. Well, for the first family camping trip of 2010 we decided to camp with two of my friends from work and their families. So we all made reservations about 4 months ago for Timothy Lake. It's a beautiful lake not too far from Mt. Hood. We loaded up the Party Pickle and headed out for fun and adventure.

We got really lucky with the weather. You can get nearly anything this time of year, but we wound up with warm temperatures in the 80's, no wind, and even the lake was pretty comfortable (at least the top layer of it.)

Food
One of the highlights of camping for me, is having good food and drink while you're out there, outdoors. And we decided to split up the duties. I made brisket sandwiches and corn on the cob for everyone on Friday night. And Shauna made her delicious and famous German Chocolate brownies for dessert. Then if that wasn't enough, we all ate roasted marshmallows and drank red and white wine.

On Saturday night, Shauna's husband Ivan did most of the cooking. He whipped up some prosciutto wrapped asparagus on the barby. And then for the main course some delicious spaghetti with meat sauce and even garlic bread. Mark's family added the best salad I've ever had (because they used their home grown lettuce) and threw in a Red Velvet Cake for dessert. I don't think I've ever had such delicious food out camping. Everyone had a blast.

Days
We mostly spent the days doing what you usually do while camping. We all chatted, ate snacks, and went down to the lake and swam and just sat by the water. Some people brought some rafts and floaties and we had a great time splashing and enjoying the fantastic scenery. Our campsite, #16, had a slice of a view of Mt. Hood past the lake and the trees. But it was also conveniently located just up from the lake so it was a quick walk to go get wet.

Chippy loved chasing blue balls and swimming, even though she was shaking when she got out of the cold water.

Nights
Campfires, more talking.. and sleeping in our bus. The weather was also perfect for sleeping. Not too cold, not hot. We really hit it perfectly. Not a drop of rain.
We can definitely recommend Timothy Lake if you'd like to get some rest and relaxation. It was a blast.
Pickle ran beautifully all the way up and back and didn't burn any oil at all.
It was a delightful trip and hopefully we can visit there again.
