Here you see two bay window buses of the 1979 vintage. In just a few moments, only one of them will be able to run under it's own power.

So on Sunday, I moved out the cars and blew out all the pine needles and leaves and got ready to host my two friends Jasan and Steven who agreed to help me remove the engine out the Pickle. Compression was ultra low on cylinders 1 and 3 and so a few weeks ago, I made the decision to get a new engine from Mr. Jake Raby of Cleveland, Georgia, probably the foremost builder of Type 4 engines in these United States if not the world.
One of the first things we did was snap pictures of everything. Including the coil. Because you see, we have to put this thing back together after Jake sends me the new engine.

And we took pictures of other things like the voltage regulator....

You see it's a tad important to see each connection for a bone head like me.
Anyway, after all the unhooking and careful manuevering, in only 2 hours time, Jasan and Steven and myself were able to pull the engine out!!!
Next step.. is putting it all back in!!!!
Stay tuned everyone!!!

Can this possibly be the same super-star hot shot news dude that I knew so many years ago in Sunny Southern CA?
I must say that I am most impressed with your technical abilities. I love ya man, but I never would have pegged you for a wrench jockey.
It looks that you all have found happiness in your new place, and I'm very happy for you. Maybe I'll make it up there one of these years!
Hey there!
Good to see Charlie still working out for you. My wife and I are glad he went to such a good home.
Take care and we'll keep checking your posts!
